Land Rover Headquarters, Gaydon - Land Rover's Discovery 3 has raced ahead of the competition to win the Auto Express '˜4x4 Off-Roader' category in the magazine's annual New Car Honours.

The Discovery 3 triumphed over the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Pathfinder in the battle for the prestigious 2005 Auto Express 'Best 4x4 off-roader' accolade.
Priced from £26,995, the award-winning Discovery 3 comes with a generous specification and a host of new safety features and technologies, including a comprehensive occupant safety package benefiting from the vehicle's Integrated Body-frame architecture, door-mounted anti-intrusion side beams and eight airbags.

Complementing the occupant safety package are Dynamic Stability Control, Active Roll Mitigation, Electronic Traction Control, Brakeforce Distribution, Anti-lock Brakes, Terrain Responseâ„¢ and park distance control technologies, putting the Discovery 3 amongst the safest SUVs on the market.

David Johns, Auto Express' editor-in-chief said: "The Disco is great in the rough, as refined as the best executive cars and more practical than an MPV."

Phil Popham, Land Rover UK managing director added: "The Discovery 3 has been recognised yet again as the leader in its class for offering the technologies and capabilities that enable it to serve its owners as any one of three different types of vehicle. And all in one very competent, attractive package."

The Auto Express New Car Honour joins other notable successes for the Discovery 3, including BBC Top Gear magazine's '˜Best 4x4' and What Car? 'Car of the Year 2005'. Priced from £26,995 to £46,995 the all-new Land Rover Discovery 3 is on sale now at Land Rover dealerships across the UK.
